UCNJ administers the GED® offered through PearsonVUE*.
The GED® test consists of four content area tests which measure achievement in subjects associated with a high school program of study. Taking the GED exam might be the next step toward a college degree or a rewarding career. You can earn the credentials you need to continue your education or to succeed in the workplace.
The GED® test has four sections, available in both English and Spanish:
- Mathematical Reasoning: 115 minutes
- Reasoning Through Language Arts: 150 minutes
- Social Studies: 70 minutes
- Science: 90 minutes
Please note: If you choose to take the GED test in Spanish, you must take ALL test sections in Spanish; you cannot mix and match languages.

There are four basic steps you need to take to schedule your GED exam:

NJ eligibility requirements
To take the GED® exam in the state of New Jersey, you must be a NJ resident with a valid ID.
You must be 18 years old to take the test without meeting special conditions. If you are 16–17 years old, the “Consent to Participate” form on the link below must be completed and signed by your parent or legal guardian stating that they give permission for you to take the test and they understand that by doing this, they are taking you out of the public school system. Your parent or legal guardian must accompany you when you bring this form to the test center, or, if they cannot attend, it must be notarized by a New Jersey notary. This form must be completed and submitted to the test center prior to scheduling any subtest

Primary Identification: Acceptable forms of identification include:
- Government issued driver’s license, temporary license or permit
- Passport
- Voter registration
- School/college ID
- Employee ID
- National ID Card
- Military ID Card
ID must have test taker’s name as given when testing appointment was made along with recent, recognizable photo.
